In this 14-hour course, students are introduced to the original Sanskrit alphabet, known as Devanagari. Each letter in the alphabet represents a particular sound produced in one of five positions of the mouth. The mouth positions are introduced and the students locate these positions by pronouncing the Sanskrit letters. By learning to pronounce these letters, the students learn virtually every sound in the Sanskrit language. A twenty-eight page booklet, recapitulating the course and explaining the Sanskrit alphabet in further detail, accompanies this course. By the end of the fourteen hours, students can read the original Sanskrit and pronounce virtually any word in the Sanskrit language.
