You can also register for classes.

Our History
The Chatham Studio opened in 1986 after the barn in which we were holding classes was sold. A space opened up at The Chatham Mall after Exercise Plus closed its doors. After opening the Chatham Studio we needed a name. The image that stuck in Theresa's mind was the nameplate on the doorbell at Dona Holleman's studio in Florence, "Studio Yoga."
Then In 1995, we moved the store and office into the second floor of the historic James Building in downtown Madison. This building is over 100 years old and was built as a theater to provide revenue for the library across the street. In 1996, the modeling agency on the third floor went out of business, so we took over that space.
Now Studio Yoga has one location:  In downtown Madison on 2 Green Village Rd above
                Blue Ridge Mountain Sports.

Our Director
theresaTheresa Rowland is the Owner of  Tools for Yoga and the Owner/Director of Studio Yoga. Introduced to yoga by her mother, Theresa went on to study with BKS Iyengar, his family and senior instructors. She is now the inspiration for yoga students and yoga teachers throughout New Jersey and the metropolitan area teaching everything from beginners, to therapeutics, to Iyengar Yoga Teacher Education. An accomplished gymnast, Theresa pursued a degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a specialty in Movement Therapy. She brings her many years of experience, insight and continuing study to her role as Director of Studio Yoga; helping students to relax, exercise, and focus within.

About Studio Yoga

Studio Yoga is a Nationally and Internationally recognized BKS Iyengar Yoga Study Center founded in 1985. Theresa Rowland, Studio Yoga's Founder and Director, operates one of the few authorized Iyengar Yoga Teacher Education Programs in the United States and  is the only authorized Iyengar Yoga Teacher Educator in New Jersey. She is also in the Assessors Program for certifying Iyengar Yoga Teachers for the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of the United States.

As a local Madison area yoga center where students receive high quality methodical instruction in the Art of Yoga

As a Regional Center where yoga students gain inspiration and knowledge through Iyengar Yoga Workshops and Teacher Education. 

As a National and International Yoga Teacher Education Center where students and teachers obtain professional ongoing yoga teacher education.

Childcare Services

childcareEnjoy taking a yoga class knowing that your child is well taken care off in our child care room. Drop off your child at our childcare room while you do yoga. Childcare is limited to the first 5 registered children.

$7 a class per child or $30 package for 5 (good for 2 months)
Childcare by special request is $15 a class.
 
Snow Policy
During inclement weather our policy is NOT to cancel classes in Madison. If you feel it is unsafe for you to attend class due to the weather please let us know This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You may take a makeup at a later date. If the instructor is unable to get to the studio, we may cancel class, or we may combine classes. Cancellations will be posted on the website general schedule. Students in early morning classes may be contacted directly by the studio or the instructor.
