Children and Families at Studio Yoga
Our goal of providing physical and mental well-being extends to children of all ages. From the toddler that is just learning how to crawl, to the teen that is getting ready to go to college. From birth, a child is naturally inquisitive and giving them the opportunity to learn about the world around them is a lesson that they will carry throughout their lives. The benefit of having Yoga, Dance, and Martial Arts in a child's life helps them explore the world around them while at the same time strengthening their bodies and minds.
sukhasana-childWhile doing Yoga a child will learn about their bodies through different postures, and let their imagination take them further into the postures. When a child does dog pose they imagine their puppy stretching and getting ready to take a nap. Their imagination helps them create stories and make the postures enjoyable. In each class children learn new poses and explore how nature relates to them placing them in a position to imagine new environments. Their body becomes a vessel for physical and mental growth.
In the ZumbaKids class, a child learns about rhythms and dance steps from across Latin America. Under the guidance of their instructor the children explore and learn about Flamenco from Spain, Salsa from Puerto Rico, Cumbia from Colombia, Tango from Argentina, Samba from Brazil and many other types of music. With a broad smile on their faces, the children learn about the world of music and how across cultures it brings joy to all. It's a class filled with music, laughter, and joy.
Capoeira-KidsIn Capoeira for Kids, a child learns Martial Art movements disguised in the form of a dance and acrobatics. From the first class the child begins to learn to do many different kicks and defense positions. At the same time they begin to learn basic Portuguese words and move to the rhythms of the Berimbau. They learn about the culture of Brazil and develop the skill of collaboration as Capoeira is designed as a game. The joy of music, dance and martial arts are all interwoven into one class giving children an experience that will last them a lifetime.
