Meditation Mini-Retreat
"An Oasis of Calm in a Turbulent World"
Discover the Infinite Reservoir of Peace Within
with John Welshons
| Sunday, September 19th 12:30 - 5:00 pm in Madison $60 ($55 SY Members) |
Meditation has been clinically shown to be a tremendous benefit to one’s physical and mental health. It is a simple, easy to learn process, which gives you a wonderful tool for improving the quality of your life, enhancing the depth of your yoga practice, and increasing your happiness and peace of mind. In addition to its many other uses, meditation is now often taught in hospitals as a method of lowering blood pressure, calming the metabolism, and alleviating pain.
This workshop is a mini-meditation course which is useful for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Participants will be given instruction in Mindfulness Meditation (Vipassana) and will be given tools for integrating meditation into their daily lives. You will also learn practices that can be utilized to reduce stress at home and on the job. Participants complete the workshop feeling refreshed and restored, with a new sense of calm, deepened inner peace, and a heightened awareness of - and appreciation for - your life, your relationships and your surroundings.
The workshop will begin at 12:30 pm and end at 5:00 pm. We will experience several cycles of sitting meditation and walking meditation interspersed with “dharma talk” - periods of lecture by the instructor and opportunities for questions and answers. We will use our time together to cultivate mindfulness and relaxed alertness in as many aspects of life as possible.
