Mira Mehta has practised Yoga since childhood with BKS Iyengar. She has a Masters degree in Classical Indian Religion and Sanskrit from Oxford and pursued postgraduate studies of Yoga texts with Professor KS Arjunwadkar. She also has a Diploma in Basic Ayurveda. She holds an Advanced Yoga Teaching Certificate from BKS Iyengar.
Mira began teaching at a young age and is known as a leading expert on Yoga with a rounded proficiency in philosophy, postures, Yoga therapy and teacher training. She has also taught extensively abroad. She founded The Yogic Path in 1999. She is the author of four books on Yoga, all published in many languages: Yoga: the Iyengar Way (with Silva Mehta & Shyam Mehta); How to Use Yoga; Health through Yoga; and Yoga Explained (with KS Arjunwadkar). She has also written a poetry collection, Cascade of Stars and runs study groups on poetics.
Mira and her brother, Shyam, were featured in 1999 on Government of India stamps commemorating Yoga. Mira was listed in The Best of British Women 1993 for work in the field of alternative health.
Progressing in Yoga, Questioning your Practice
This workshop is geared towards developing knowledge about Yoga through understanding its underlying philosophy and practical principles. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions, making the sessions directly relevant to the group,
Friday December 5
A) 2:30 to 4:30 pm - Sequencing: A class needs to flow into both body and mind on the basis of a structure.
B) 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm - The Anterior Spine: The anterior spine can unlock many secrets of practice.
Saturday December 6
C) 10:00 am to 12:30 pm - Yogic Locks (bandhas): What are the Yogic locks and how do they work?
D) 3:00 to 4:30 pm - Breathwork in Asanas: Breath – prana – works with the mind to guide the body.
Sunday December 7
E) 10:00 am - 12:30 pm - Breath & Mind: The intertwining of breath and mind needs to be brought to conscious awareness.
Errors in Practice
This course is equally suitable for beginners and those wishing to check and consolidate their practice.

I) Tuesday December 9 - 6:30 to 8:30 pm - Seated Poses & Twists
